Mama Got Run Over By the Easter Bunny

Ok, not really, but I needed an excuse for taking this long to post Easter pics.

Fin really enjoyed her first Easter. The bunny brought her a nice basket including a super-cute giraffe print swimsuit. We went to church and Lorna met us for the egg hunt and services. Since Fin had a hunt at school, she was all over those eggs.

A note on Fin's dress. If you have waited for a child, in whatever way, you probably bought something special that helped you with the wait. You imagined your child wearing it, or playing with it, or reading it. Retail therapy at its best. Well, my mom eyed that pink sailor dress over several trips to the store. She tried to resist, but eventually caved. She imagined her granddaughter would one day wear that dress on Easter. That takes a lot of faith. Of course, Easter was about 42 degrees and Fin ended up wearing leggings and socks under her dress and her bright, yellow lobsterman jacket over it; but damnit, she wore that pink, sailor dress on Easter! She took off her coat for a moment so I could get that pic. Good girl. (The bad hair day was my fault... too much detangler lead to disaster.)

We also stopped by Nancy and Mr. Pat's and Nancy got a couple of cute shots. In the second one, Fin had unpacked her Easter gifts from Nancy and they included some Matchbox cars and a bunny-shaped slinky. Fin promptly lined up the cars, stretched out the slinky in front of them as a start/finish line, and announced, "Gentlemen, start your engines!" That's my baby!!!

Here are a few more random pics.

Spring Break!

Spring break begins today, which means 3 days until the grandparents (aka "reinforcements") arrive. Fin and I will both enjoy seeing them. Here are a few pics...

Baywatch on Nick Jr.

Today was Fin's first egg hunt. She seemed to think the concept was strange, but was happy that "I get to eat choc-o-lot." (It was my first Easter egg hunt as a mommy, too, and I had a blast hiding eggs.)

Then there was the purple cupcake... which came back up about 15 minutes after this picture was taken. That's what too much excitment mixed with sugar will do.

And, just to balance out our holidays, we ended up staying for Purim at work. First, we were kindly invited to dinner. Then, Fin wanted to go upstairs for the kids' service. She enjoyed the parade and didn't seem to notice she wasn't in costume. When she took a wrong turn, she continued the parade all on her own. I think "Haman" was sufficiently blotted out with the noise these little ones made!

Some Pics

We have had a really busy and fun weekend. It actually started Thursday night at the playground that turned into a photo shoot. Such a ham.

Friday night, we were invited to our friends' house. Their sons were home for the weekend so Fin and I went over to eat and visit. Fin really enjoyed playing with the three guys.

Our friends, Larry and Darva and their sons, Ehren and Josh

Today was the St. Patrick's Day parade, which conveniently runs about a block from our home. The bands were too loud:

But, they had horses:

And a Jimmie Car:

And cool hats:

Then, we met Lorna at the mall for lunch and a very long play period at the playland followed by clothes shopping. Fin is growing fast and outgrowing many of her clothes. Mom, this pic is for you:

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

The Good
Fin finally conquered the cupcake today at the mall playground! She was ecstatic and I was very proud. She then proceeded to climb it about 40 times just to show it who was boss.

The Bad
Anthony kidnapped Fin's pink kitty! Fin rescued her, though, and tied Anthony to the doorknob.

The Ugly
Well, Toyota won a Cup race. I must now call on all of my fellow, fat rednecks to start studying sumo wrestling. I can't wait until one of us wins!

What We've Been Up To

Fin had a real treat last week. We showed up for the last swim class of the session and they had inflated the big slide. Fin just loves slides as much as she loves being in the pool and she did not hesitate a moment. She spent the entire half hour climbing the tower and sliding down. She was actually shaking at one point her muscles were so tired, but she took about a minute long rest before climbing again.

This is just a video of Fin being silly trying to blow up a balloon.

And, here are some pictures from the playground this afternoon. We arrived right after the enormous truck of mulch was dumped and she enjoyed climbing that. She also played with a little boy on the slides. This is her "Hallelujah!" pose she would strike when she came to the end of the slide.
