A Change Will Do You Good
Well, thanks to a flood of emails to NBC and the sponsors of the contest, the website is now changed to say, "The Adopting Mom". Clumsy, but better.
Greetings from a Non-Mom
You know that America's Favorite Mom show that is coming on NBC, hosted by our favorite saccharine duo, Donny and Marie? Well, they have voting categories for the best moms. In the category of Best Non-Mom... they have up for vote an adoptive mother. They even say in the description for the Non-Mom category, "grandparent, stepmom, or mom to adopted children". See!
So the next time I am convincing my kid there are no spiders in her bed because spiders are afraid of giraffes or I am driving to three different video stores because there was a inexplicable run on "Lady and the Tramp 2", I'm going to be thinking "Up your nose, Donny and Marie!"

We've Stayed Busy
This past weekend, Fin, Nancy, and our friend Tisha went to Richmond to meet my aunt Em for the NASCAR race. Actually, Fin stayed with my friend Mandy and her mini-me, Beth. We had a great time. On Sunday morning, Mandy saddled her horses which made Fin's year. She is entering her horse-obsessed years a little early.
The now traditional "track in the back" picture.

Meanwhile, back at the farm (literally), Fin and Beth washed Beth's horsie and mowed the lawn.

How 'bout them cowgirls:

Yesterday, I took off from work and went with Fin's class to a park and farm. Fin spent much of the time playing with her best friend from school. She even tried to push her in the swing, though the child has at least one foot and fifteen pounds on her.

So, this is a pic I just couldn't resist. Nancy was called upon to be a tiger in our zoo's emergency response practice. She had to dress in orange and black and hide on the grounds while the keepers searched for her. (All before the zoo opened, of course.) This is her reenactment of her great escape.
